Braunton sits close to some of North Devon's best-known beaches, Saunton and Croyde among them, and the pubs here seem used to dogs coming in off the sand. Several venues below go further than a tolerant nod, with water bowls and staff who remember names. There's no cafe or pub scene here that's been built specifically around dogs, but the welcome in the ones we've checked is genuine rather than grudging.
This page covers six venues we've checked properly. Braunton has more than this, and we're adding to it as we go, so treat this as a solid starting point rather than the full picture.
The Kings Arms, Georgeham: staff here welcome dogs warmly and offer water without being asked. A BarkFind member called it a pub for "dogs and their owners seeking a" proper welcome. Water bowls on site. Open midday to 10pm most days, midday to 9pm on Sundays.
Pub · Chapel St
The London Inn, Braunton: dogs are welcome, and by the sound of it, well remembered. The verdict notes staff and the owner recognise individual dogs and offer treats and water. There's a large south-facing beer garden with seating for 125, useful if you'd rather stay outside. Open from midday most weekdays (5pm Mondays), with later hours Friday and Saturday.
Pub · Caen St
Williams Arms, Wrafton: a straightforward welcome, staff are described as making dog-owning visitors welcome. No amenities listed. Open midday to 9pm daily.
Pub
The Thatch, Croyde: dogs are welcome here specifically at a designated table, and you'll need to book it in advance. Worth doing before you turn up with a dog in tow expecting to sit anywhere. Open from 8am, later on Fridays and Saturdays (midnight).
Pub · Hobb's Hill
Cafe Croyde Bay, Croyde: dogs are welcome, though the cafe itself doesn't spell out which areas or any conditions, so it's worth asking on arrival. Known for sea views and a surf-adjacent feel. Open 8.30am to 9pm daily.
Cafe · Moor Ln
The Break, Saunton: a handy stop right by Saunton beach for dog walkers, though the dog policy here isn't confirmed, so don't assume a welcome, check when you arrive. No dog-specific amenities known. Open 8.30am to 6.30pm daily.
Cafe
Saunton Sands and Saunton Beach allow dogs all year round, but there's a lead requirement in front of the beach huts (North Devon Council, checked 19 October 2026). Beyond that stretch, dogs can go off-lead.
Crow Point allows dogs all year round too, with one condition: dogs must stay on a lead on the footpath leading down to the beach itself (North Devon Council, checked 19 October 2026). Once you're off the footpath, that restriction doesn't apply.
Putsborough Beach restricts dogs to certain areas, so check the signage when you get there rather than assuming full access (North Devon Council, checked 10 October 2026).
Several pubs here (The Kings Arms, The London Inn) go beyond simple tolerance, with water bowls and staff who seem to genuinely enjoy dogs being around. The Thatch is the one exception to "just turn up": book the dog-friendly table ahead if you want to eat there with a dog. For beaches, lead rules tend to apply around beach huts and access footpaths rather than across the whole stretch of sand, so it's rarely all-or-nothing.
This list covers six venues we've checked properly in and around Braunton, not every dog-friendly spot in the area. Two of the six (Cafe Croyde Bay and The Break) have policies that are either vague or unconfirmed, so a quick check on arrival is sensible rather than assuming the same warm welcome you'd get at the pubs listed here.
