Woolacombe

Woolacombe is a beach town, and most of what's useful here sits around that: somewhere to eat after a walk, a pub that doesn't mind sandy paws, a stretch of coast with clear rules about leads. We've got six places checked so far, split between pubs, cafes, a bar and a couple of restaurants. No parks or dedicated dog walking routes in the data yet, just the beaches below.

Pubs

The Jube, South Street, is a family-run pub that welcomes dogs inside and puts out water bowls, which is a small thing but a telling one. Open 11am to 11pm every day. A BarkFind member rated it 3.5 paws for "casual pub visits".

Cafes

Drift Coffee House and Kitchen, Barton Road, welcomes dogs with what Mylo's visit described as a friendly atmosphere, a comfortable coffee stop rather than a destination meal. Open 9am to 2.30pm daily. BarkFind paw rating: 4.

Town Farmhouse, out at Mortehoe, is a tea room in a 19th century farmhouse building. Dogs are welcome and the venue offers treats as an amenity. Open 10.30am to 4pm most days, closed Fridays.

Places to eat

Beach House Restaurant, Granville Terrace, sits right by the beach and Mylo's verdict notes dogs are welcome there, but there's no source confirming the venue's own policy, so treat that as unconfirmed rather than guaranteed. Open daily from midday, shorter hours on Sunday (12pm to 3.30pm). BarkFind paw rating: 3.

The Barn, Barton Road, is a pub and restaurant near the beach with a beer garden, known locally for fish and chips. Mylo's visit found it a good spot to rest after a walk, but again the dog policy itself isn't confirmed by the venue, so check before you go. Open from 11am or 11.30am depending on the day, later on Fridays and Saturdays. BarkFind paw rating: 4.

Bar

Bar Electric, Beach Road, offers straightforward hospitality to dogs without specific amenities noted. Open from midday, with late hours on Wednesday (until midnight) and Friday/Saturday (until 11pm).

Beaches: what to know before you go

Woolacombe has three named beaches with council restrictions on record, all checked by North Devon Council on 19 October 2026:

  • Rockham Beach: dogs are allowed all year round.
  • Barricane Beach: dogs must be kept on a lead from 1 May to 30 September. Outside that window there's no lead restriction recorded.
  • Combesgate Beach: dogs are restricted to certain areas of the beach, with local signage giving the detail, so it's worth a look when you arrive rather than assuming free run of the sand.

Nothing here covers Woolacombe's main beach itself, so if that's where you're headed, that's a gap in what we've checked, not a confirmation either way.

Before you go

Two of the six venues (Beach House Restaurant and The Barn) have a positive verdict from Mylo's visit but no confirmed source for their dog policy, so it's worth a quick check with the venue if you're planning to turn up with a dog in tow. The Jube is the only place with a specific amenity noted (water bowls), and Town Farmhouse the only one offering treats.

One honest caveat

This is six venues and three beaches, not the whole of Woolacombe. Coverage here is growing, and there'll be gaps, particularly around parks, walking routes and the main beach itself. Treat this as a solid starting point rather than the full picture.
